You Are Allowed To Hurt

Hey.

I know you’ve been going through a lot lately. You’re going through one of the hardest seasons in your life and right now, you may not even see a way out.  As you open your eyes every morning, all you see in your head are scenes of struggling, crying, and not knowing.

Every single day is a struggle. And to top these pains is the constant fight to keep everything inside. You’ve been striving to hide all these woes deep inside your guts thinking “I don’t want to be a burden.” or “They probably won’t understand.” or “It’s better to keep all of these inside.”

But here’s a message for you:

You are allowed to hurt.

You are allowed to hurt and know the sufferings of this world once obscured to us when we were younger. Do not add more salt to the wound by not letting your self feel what you have to feel. A friendly reminder that other people don’t get to choose what pains you at what does not. Your pain is never minimized just because those around you can’t feel it the way you do. You are in pain and you need help.

“Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at every street corner.– Lamentations 2:19

Here’s the good news: You don’t have to stuff everything and wait for everything to explode. You can cry out to God any time. There is no hiding from the One who loves us the most.

Run to Him.

Cry everything out.

Tell Him everything.

Tell Him how you have failed that exam you have prepared and studied for in weeks. Tell Him how you were left broken by the one you once spent talking every night with and that one you thought had loved you. Tell Him how much you were hurt by the hateful words that were said to you. Tell Him how no matter you try to save the last of your coins and bills, you just can’t keep up with the demands of your finances. Tell Him how much you exerted effort on bringing your relationship with your family, friends, and other people back, and in the end, you just can’t and again, you’re the one left scathed. Tell Him everything.

Tell Him how this world has wronged you in so many possible ways but one.

And then, stay still. In His presence, be still.

Be quiet in front of God and let his warmth fill you inside.

There are times when we have to be silent and there are times when we have to speak up. This is one of those silent times.  In this silence, feel His majestic power binding you into a warm hug telling you, “Child, I’m sorry for all these things. I love you. Everything will turn out for good.”  In these moments, listen and hear His voice in silence.

Whenever it becomes unbearable, know that someone will always be up there listening, no matter where you are, no matter what time it is, no matter how small you think your pain is, Someone is waiting for you to call on Him.

You are allowed to hurt and feel this through the big pains, through the small pains. Remove the thinking that He is only interested on the things that seem impossible. If it hurts you, it is pain and it must be brought to God.

It is okay to let everything out to Him.

It is okay.

Self, it is okay.
